Directive on Packaging – 2005/20/EC (repealing Directive 94/62/EC) – EU
Directive on packaging and packaging waste Scope of the Directive The Directive covers all packaging placed
on the market in the EU Community and all packaging waste, whether it is used
or released at industrial, commercial, office, shop, service, household or any
other level, regardless of the material used. Directive 2004/12/EC (amending
Directive 94/62/EC) establishes
criteria clarifying the definition of the term 'packaging' Requirements of the

Environmental Pollution
The toxic elements
Cadmium / Lead / Mercury / Chromium (VI) can be released from waste hauling, disposal
activities and manufacturing process. Higher levels of these toxic elements may
be found in soil or water near industrial areas or hazardous waste sites,
posing health hazards to human beings through the food chain. The main
objective of the Directive 2005/20/EC is to protect the environment and
safeguard public health.
